Financial Investor Scheme (FIS)
In an attempt to boost the country’s economy and its importance as a centre for wealth management, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), together with the Singapore Government, has developed a new scheme called the Financial Investor Scheme to encourage foreigners interested in living in Singapore to invest in the country. This is the perfect pathway to Singapore Permanent Residency if you meet the following criteria.
Eligibility
In addition, the applicant must have net personal assets of at least SGD 20 million AND meet one of the following options:
Option A
The applicant shall place and maintain at least SGD 5 million of financial assets with a financial institution regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Option B
The applicant shall place and maintain at least SGD 5 million of assets in Singapore. This should comprise of financial assets of not less than SGD 3 million and up to SGD 2 million in one private property in Singapore.
Under this Financial Investor Scheme, applicants are able to include their immediate family members, comprising of spouse and unmarried children below 21 years in the same application.
New Regulations 
With effect from 1 January 2011, the following changes apply to the current criteria:
Option A
The applicant shall place and maintain at least SGD 10 million of financial assets with a financial institution regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Option B
The applicant shall place and maintain at least SGD 10 million of assets in Singapore. This should comprise of financial assets of not less than SGD 6 million and up to SGD 4 million in one private property in Singapore. |
