Global Investor Programme (GIP)
The Global Investor Programme (GIP) is an initiative by Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore. This is a popular programme which has attracted many investors to Singapore since its launch.
This Programme is to assist foreign investors and entrepreneurs to set up and develop their business in Singapore. It provides links to local business networks and more opportunities for business collaborations. It also provides a range of immigration facilitations. Investors of the GIP are eligible to apply any of the following options:
- Permanent Residency (including immediate family members)
- Multiple Journey Visa
- Social Visit Pass for entrepreneurs
- Entre Pass for start-up entrepreneurs
Eligibility
The turnover of your company must be at least S$10 million per annum in the most recent year and on average for the last 3 years.
Under this scheme, you can choose either of the following investment options:
- Invest at least S$1 million in a new business start-up or expansion of an existing business operation
- Invest at least S$1.5 million in a new business start-up, expansion of an existing operation, or any Singapore-incorporated venture capital fund, foundation or trust approved by EDB
- Invest at least S$2 million in the above option including residential property at no more than 50% of the investment amount.
New Regulations 
With effect from 1 January 2011, the following changes apply to the current options:
Under the GIP scheme, you can choose either of the following investment options:
- Invest at least S$2.5 million in a new business start-up or expansion of an existing business operation
- Invest at least S$2.5 million in a GIP-approved fund.
Eligibility (With effect from 1 October 2010)
1) For Applicants with entrepreneurial and business track record:
- The turnover of your company must be at least S$30 million per annum in the most recent year and on average for the last 3 years.
2) For Applicants who are senior corporate managers without entrepreneurial and business track record:
- The applicant must be currently undertaking a senior management role in the company and have at least 10 years of corporate management experience.
- The applicant must be employed in a company with a turnover of at least S$100 million.
- The applicant must choose Option A
