Malaysia My Second Home Programme is a programme designed by the Malaysian Government to allow foreigners who meet a certain set of criteria to stay in Malaysia.
This programme is usually catered to foreigners who are seeking for a long term social visit in Malaysia. In addition, if you are a spouse of a Malaysian Citizen, or an expatriate who wishes to retire in Malaysia after your employment pass has expired, this is the perfect programme for you.
Participants will be granted a multiple entry social visit pass. Under this pass, often for a period of 10 years and renewable, participants of the programme can travel freely in and out of Malaysia. They are also allowed to bring their spouses, parents above the age of 60 and children below 21 years. However, they are not allowed to work in the country.
The following privileges are offered to participants of the programme:
Participants are entitled to purchase residential properties in Malaysia, depending on the minimum rates set by the Government
Participants are allowed to bring their personal cars to Malaysia or purchase a locally assembled car without having to pay import duty/tax.
Participants are entitled to apply for one domestic helper for the household
Participants can send their children who are under the age of 21 to school in Malaysia under a student visa
Participants can set up and register their own business in Malaysia in compliance with the Companies Act 1965 (Malaysia)
Participants above 50 years of age are allowed to work on a part time basis by applying to the Immigration Department of Malaysia
